I dedicate my ofrenda to my dad, because he is the reason I’m here. Even though he died when I was 3 years old, I still remember him. He was a good dad even though we never had much time together. My dad was important to me because he was the one that used to tell me to be good in school. He would tell me this, “never have problems with people, always be careful what you do and never treat people bad. Plus, obey your mother.” That’s how he would tell me to be a good person. The apples represent life. The candles represent light. The skulls represent death. The food represents the things they used to like. The objects represent the things they used or the things they used to have.

Le dedico mi ofrenda a mi papá, porque él es la razón por la cual estoy aquí. Aunque el murió cuando yo tenía 3 años, yo todavía lo recuerdo. Él fue un buen papá aunque no haya tenido mucho tiempo para estar con él. Mi papá es importante para mí porque fue él que me decía hacer bien en la escuela. Él me decía, “Nunca tengas problemas con personas, siempre ten cuidado en lo que hagas y nunca trates mal a las personas. Además obedece a tu mamá.” Eso es como me enseñaba ser una buena persona. En mi ofrenda los objetos representan lo siguiente: las manzanas representan la vida; las velas, la luz; la calavera, la muerte; la comida, las cosas que a él le gustaban. Los objetos representan las cosas que que ellos solía tener.
