Minnesota Artists Gallery
This provocative, site-specific installation by underground grafix veterans John Largaespada and Alyn Silberstein drew heavily on common materials (ball-point pens, Xerox machines), images (mass-media culture) and styles (the comic book, sign painting, rock ‘n’ roll posters). Eye-boggling works resurrected the banality of popular culture and revealed the artists’ commitment to art as image, not as rarefied object. The installation featured paintings, collage, ballpoint pen drawings, xerography and giant wall renderings.
