From Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program
Artist: Michael Rathbun
February 16 - May 8, 1996
Minnesota Artists Gallery
This exhibition featured an installation by artist Michael Rathbun, whose solo voyage across Lake Michigan in a twelve-foot sailboat of his own construction inspired his monumental wooden sculpture. Through N44°57.488' W93°16.353' (the longitude and latitude pinpointing the exhibit‘s exact position on earth), Rathbun also speculated on a future journey, one he hopes to take across the Pacific Ocean with his two brothers in search of a blue whale.
