Critically acclaimed artist/inventor Stanley J. Shetka organized this collaborative community project and exhibition which made use of his recent invention - a fantastic paper press that turns glossy magazines, milk cartons and phone books into a beautiful, durable building material. Paper Futures emphasized the process of recycling, the blending of art and technology and the importance of community involvement in affecting the world's ecology. The exhibition included a recycling station complete with a working press which churned out paper bricks for the duration of the show. Museum visitors were invited to bring their waste paper from home to contribute. The exhibition also featured works of art made entirely from recycled paper by Christie Hawkins, Rick Peterson, Tom Lane, Julie Baugnet, Bill Bukowski, Mary Ann Osborne, Jane Thompson, Bruce McClain, Denise Ballman, Jason Barnett, Richard Wagner and Stanley Shetka.
