These narrative drawings by Bruce Anderson, David Baker and Frank Bigbear evolved intuitively and organically, with the personality of each artist infusing each image. Anderson’s mixed-media abstractions demonstrated his preoccupation with the place where intuition and materials meet. Baker’s ethereal figurative drawings housed layered, ghostly presences that revealed his commitment to “drawing as writing with desire.” Bigbear’s elaborately detailed colored-pencil works chronicled the Native American experience within the context of white culture.
